About Cultural Catering
Cultural Catering is a social enterprise that provides job and training opportunities for people living in the Yarra Housing Estates who have a passion for sharing their cultural cuisine.
The enterprise was started 20 years ago by women living on the Richmond Housing Estate who loved cooking and wanted to start a business, known as the Community Cooks.
Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House helped these women start Cultural Catering, and today North Richmond Community Health is supporting the enterprise to grow so that more people can reach their dreams.
Our menu is developed and prepared by our Community Cooks, using their traditional recipes. All profits go towards providing employment and training opportunities to public housing residents.
In the following video, Sue Kent, manager from Belgium Avenue Neighbourhood House speaks about how it all began.
This enterprise is supported by the Department of Jobs, Precincts and Regions.
